Procter Pest-Stop Larsen Magpie Cage

Excellent product
Arrived speedily and was simple to assemble.

The split perches are quite tricky to set and the suggestion that they butt ontl the decoy's perches is problematic. If the decoy bird hops too and fro, the perch can move and trigger the trap.

We've found it better to position the split perch against the cage and have been please to catch a magpie in each trap at the same time.
Only one problem
Only one problem with the Procter Pest-Stop Larsen Trap - it does not work, at least around here.
My previous trap was borrowed from a friend and took 5 magpies in four days of use. This one, in the same place and using the same decoy, has taken nothing in a month. I think this is because the mesh is so fine that you cannot properly see the decoy inside.
So I now have to buy a different on and I suggest that you do too.Procter Pest-Stop Larsen Magpie Cage
As cruel and inhumane as the people who use them
"To discover whether magpies could be to blame for the decline, the RSPB commissioned the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) to analyse its 35 years of bird monitoring records.....The study found that songbird numbers were no different in places where there were many magpies from where there are few. It found no evidence that increased numbers of magpies have caused declines in songbirds and confirms that populations of prey species are not determined by the numbers of their predators." [...]

In short, magpies are not responsible for the decline in songbirds, there is no justification for their torture and slaughter by the people who use these cruel and inhumane traps - don't buy them!
